Released in Spain in 2005, Isabel Coixet’s beautiful film The Secret Life of Words won the prestigious Goya Award for Best Picture, while Isabel won both Best Director and Best Screenplay.

When I first read Isabel’s script I was taken by its humanity, its poets’ heart. Two injured people finding each other at sea. One who can’t swim. One that is afraid to drown. Love finds its way. I’m proud to be in Isabel’s film. Proud to have worked with cinematographer Jean-Claude Larrieu and our hard working and genial crews in Madrid and Belfast, thrilled to have met and worked with Javier Cámara, Eddie Marsan, Danny Mays and blessed to have spent time on screen with two sublime and brilliant women, Julie Christie and Sarah Polley.

Not sure if this film reached your neck of the woods. It didn’t get much of a release in certain parts of the world, including mine, but it’s a good one, and I’m pretty sure it will be worth your while.
